Lomography X British Film Institute - Robert Altman: American Outsider Competition

Lomography has teamed up with the British Film Institute in celebration of the famous film director Robert Altman to offer you the chance of winning some Altman goodies a Diana F+ and have your photos digitally displayed in the BFI lobby.

The British Film Institute (BFI) are celebrating a major retrospective dedicated to American filmmaker Robert Altman. This exclusive season runs from now until July 31st and features screenings of his films M*A*S*H, The Long Goodbye, and a re-release of Nashville from 1975. Altmans bold and experimental approach to film is something the global Lomography community would surely appreciate, which is why we’re offering you the opportunity to win some special Robert Altman goodies and a Diana F+ camera and have the winning photos digitally displayed in the lobby of the BFI in London!

Altman was known for being an influential innovator, who overturned conventions using odd camera movements, mixing up dialogue, and experimenting with sound. With this in mind, we would like you to submit up to 10 of your best photos that Defy Convention. Did you try something different, use a new camera or technique, or simply created a photo that went against everything you were used to? If so, submit them here and we will choose our favorite 3!

1st prize - Your winning photo will be displayed on BFI plasma screens at BFI Southbank,1 x Lomography Diana F+ Camera, 1 x Robert Altman and the Elaboration of Hollywood Storytelling Book by Mark Minett, 1 x Nashville Lobby Card poster

2nd prize - Your winning photo will be displayed on BFI plasma screens at BFI Southbank, Various Nashville - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack vinyl LP

3rd prize - A copy of the BFI’s new movie poster for Nashville that celebrates the film’s 4k restoration, 1 x M*A*S*H T’shirt

Each participant may submit up to 10 photographs. This competition is open worldwide. The competition closes on July 9th.

NB: Winning photos will be displayed on the weekend of 23rd July subject to current Covid restrictions being lifted.
