Anaklia is a resort town on the Black Sea that is now largely abandoned with large hotel buildings and even a casino all locked up. My understanding is that the cancellation of the big seaport project, which stimulated the construction of resort facilities, combined with the COVID pandemic, has resulted in turning Anaklia into the "ghost town" such as I observed during my visit. In 2019, the area was host to the Echowaves electronic music festival but a similar concert was cancelled in 2022. Hopefully, things will open up again soon.
