In Your House [Seventeen Seconds Remix]

Reworking of a photograph of which originally appeared in the ‘Looking To Sea' album. The image itself is loosely inspired by the ‘Sonic Gloomscapes’ of ‘80s 'New Wave' music. Conceptually, I was trying to create bleak and minimalistic image reflective of the translucent-sounding music of artists such as ‘The Cure’.
I found that reverse printing the final image (so the image is effectively the same as it appears on the film negative), gave the desired result as well as giving the photograph an ethereal quality.

Yes, good tonality for the theme. The starkness of the window out there in the brilliant white is overwhelming and then to notice all the detail in the rest of the picture is a great thematic contrast. I think our minds see the incongruities that reversing the scene creates even when it isn't obvious, it is a bit dissonant. Nice!
