Just a straightforward little flower album, testing Ektar's "World's finest grain" claim. I don't have a Pentax lens sharp enough to do it justice, though. (And my eyesight is steadily getting worse, which didn't help the focusing! ;-)

The last two months I was working in our laboratory in Las Vegas, NV. I took the weekends as opportunity to see more of the city outside the Las Vegas strip and to go to the desert ( i.e. Valley of Fire with Vici). On my last Vegas weekend, I drove to Death Valley National Park. I have always been curious about this place. The driest, the lowest and the hottest place in America they say. But they will also add....but it is also a very beautiful place... And since it was only two hours from Las Vegas, I went with my cameras and films, my 12 bottles of waters (which was not enough), my snacks and lots of sunblock. I also brought a disposable camera with me and these are some of the photos. :)

  • Freelensing #1

    shared by buckshot on 2014-04-17

First try at 'freelensing', where you hold a lens loose in front of the camera. I used a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens with my Nikon F100 body. It didn't deliver the wonderful 'shrunken world' effect that can be achieved with a proper tilt-shift lens, but it worked pretty good for close-ups.
