God smiles when He sees Jiyūgaoka in a sunny day. And me? I feel everything comes rushing in, all at once. And in the end, I feel… good. It’s as if I begin to reach the unreachable. And touch the untouchable. It’s like opening a window to a field full of flowers. And when it rains, it feels as if the place taps you on your shoulder and assures you that everything is going to be okay. It radiates warmth and tenderness. It fixes you… and makes you whole.
Tokyo is a testament to what humankind can achieve. Whenever I walked its streets, I feel like a dust surrounded by giant sand castles - or like the little boy in Abbas Kiarostami’s “Where is The Friend’s House?” In a place such as Tokyo, it is easy to get lost, both literally and figuratively. I’ve always been an early bird, a 4 am kind of early bird. I was raised that way. It’s one of the things I keep with me wherever I am, like a compass that redirects me whenever I begin to slightly sway away from my path and get… lost. #35mm #blackandwhite
It took me quite a while to understand what really is the appeal of Shibuya? The first time I set foot on that place, all I could do was humming Jim Croce’s “New York’s Not My Home” inside my mind; “…though all the streets are crowded, there’s something strange about it.” But after a while, I started to see what my camera sees. The little corners that once was drowned in the sea of people started to appear. The speck of light on the building across, the tiny magazine stand, the signs above my head dancing together with the traffic lights. Everything was like… magic.
Not to be confused with the real Trashcam project of The dustmen of Hamburg. This is really trash and camera in one - a camera that was originally made for the dumpster - the infamous Canomatica, also sold as Olympia.
I was originally disappointed by the "features" of this trashcam, but soon after I realized that this £1 marvel can open new lomographic opportunities....
Trashcam happens to handle colour film quite well. No edge or center sharpness, but what a saturation!
The photos were made on two subsequent days, and the subjects were not recorded or chosen with respect to relevance.
The splitzer was some electrician's tape on the front "lens" and the film was home-developed and scanned as well.

A splitzer effect by the means of electricians' tape over halves of the front "lens" of my Canomatica. The subjects are randomly chosen, whitout concern what is in the previous layer. This is the first time I tried this, and I quite like some, and others - not. Your opinions and critique are welcome, as I really want to master the technique.
The film is pushed to 400ASA from its original 100.
The magnificent St Paul's cathedral, in London, is widely hailed as the greatest work of its designer, Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723). Wren was himself the first among many illustrious people to be buried inside the cathedral over the centuries. The inscription above his tomb reads "Lector, si monumentum requiris, circumspice" (Reader, if you seek his monument, look around you).

I take a photo of a bicycle, you take a photo of a bicycle, he takes a photo of a bicycle, she takes a photo of a bicycle... but every shot will be different, determined by each Lomographer's choice of bicycle, choice of background, choice of composition, framing, angle, exposure, timing, camera, lens, film, processing... the possibilities are almost endless, with each choice being influenced by the individuality of each Lomographer. And that's what makes every Lomograph special and unique. Yes, we are all individuals! ;-)
This is one of the roads leading in/out of Kukes although not how I got there. I was dropped off at the side of the main bypass highway and had to climb up a metal ladder about 15-20 feet to get into the town.
This homemade swing was probably setup for children to play on. I did not see any playground equipment around town or even near the schools while wandering around Kukes.
