Joining the roster of legendary LomoGurus is France-based film photographer and osteologist La Fille Renne. She has only been in the community for four years but she already made a mark with her evocative and feminine portraits. Here, she discusses her passion for analogue photography, the story behind her LomoHome name, and that one thing she enjoys the most in the community.

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

Hi! I’m La Fille Renne, a film photographer and osteologist from France. I am 27 years old and I love natural science, selling plushies that I make, post-rock, tea, Cervidae, sea, traveling, and body modifications. Film photography has an important place in my life.

Tell us something about your LomoHome’s name. Why did you decide to have that username? Or if that’s your actual name, what would be a different LomoHome name you’d like to have?

My photographer nickname is La Fille Renne. “Renne” is the French word for “reindeer", which is my favorite animal. I don’t know why but when I created my LomoHome, I mixed English and French.

Share with us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.

My most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community is doing film swaps with Lomographers from other countries, like @richardpjlambert and @fotobes. And the support from the community is much appreciated.

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.

@poulettemagique is one of my close friends but I knew her before her arrival in the community. @mpflawer and @alexcetera are two of my pals and I discuss about photography and collaborate with @richardpjlambert and @fotobes but I haven’t yet met all these people in real life yet.

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?

Of course, why not?

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences using this camera?

Without hesitation my favorite Lomo camera is my Lomo LC-A+. It was given to me by someone from my family. I love it. It’s a perfect camera for travels, landscapes, cross-processing, etc… I use this camera with the Splitzer and its underwater housing, the LC-A+ Krab, which is great for snorkeling pictures.

My most memorable experiences with the LC-A+ are my roadtrip along the Costa Brava, the wedding of @alexcetera and the underwater adventure I had this summer. I’m very proud of the last ones with the scuba divers.

Please share with us your favorite lomograph and explain why you love that particular image.

It’s very hard to pick just one picture. I choose this lomograph because it’s my first success with the EBS technique (with a Minolta X-700, a DIY splitzer and a Lomochrome Turquoise film). I’m really proud of this roll.

Please share a Lomograph you wish you had taken and explain why.

I could choose a lot of pictures from @hodachrome! This one is my favorite because it’s like a perfect dream: dolphins in the sky! It takes a lot of practice and patience to achieve this kind of perfect double exposures.

What’s the best Lomographic or photography advice you think you have given?

Be patient!

If there’s one song or movie that best describes your Lomo life, which one is it and why?

I work a lot with music, even during shootings, but I’m not able to choose a song which matches with my photographs. Maybe a realistic movie with dreamlike touches.

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

Always take your camera(s) with you!
