Around the World in Analogue: Paris, Texas and Paris, France

6

“Around the World in Analogue” is your bite-sized guide to the most amazing travel destinations around the globe, as told by the members of the Lomography Community. Today, two vastly different cities bearing the same name collide in this exciting double exposure project by @pitstic2.

The town of Paris, Texas, is inhabited by about 25,000 people. It’s comprised of a handful of shops, one bar that stays open until 11pm, and a miniature Eiffel Tower adorned with a red cowboy hat. Nearly 5,000 miles away, Paris, France, is different in every way but name.

Last summer, I went on a road trip to Texas, going out of my way to stop in Paris to shoot a roll of film with my La Sardina. I met a few locals (who served as models), ordered a full plate of Texas barbeque, and stayed in the Old Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast.

A month later, I hopped on a one-way flight to France to begin my life as a nomad and I shot over that same roll in the "real" Paris. I meant to keep track of the order of photos, but I quickly gave up and took photos at random, resulting in a delightful overlapping mess when I developed the photos.

Thank you for sharing this fascinating project, @pitstic2!

To capture the different sides of Paris, @pitstic2 used a La Sardina camera and Kodak Portra 160 film. To see more of her work, drop by her LomoHome or follow her on Instagram.
