Hello Simone! Thank you for having the time to chat with us. We noticed that you have used the Lomo'Instant Automat Glass and Splitzer extensively. Could you tell us a bit about the creative process when you take your photographs?

Hi to all the community, it‘s a pleasure to be here in the international magazine. For those who still don’t know me, I'm Simone Zanoli, an architect that lives in a small city near Milano, with a big passion for photography and for exploring the world, mostly the arctic. It’s more than a year and a half that I have always with me, during my journeys, the Lomo’instant Automat Glass Magellan edition. I did a lot of experiment during all this time always with the aim to push analogue photography beyond its physical limits. I found in the “Splitzer“, a simple but really genial lens accessory, a precious ally and now I can’t take pictures without the combination LIAG + Splitzer.

When I shot in analogic, before starting shooting, there isn‘t really study, but I try to be guided mainly by instinct. When I feel that a certain scene or a certain moment that I'm living it makes me feel a particular emotion I stop to think, I take the camera and I take a picture. The aim that I want to reach is to catch and impress on the snapshot the emotions that I feel in a precise time of my life, without complex studies behind.

Do you have any tips or advice you would like to share our readers on how to improve their Splitzer photos?

I think that the only advice that I can suggest is to do a lot of experiments, you have to pass through a lot of failure snapshot before reaching your personal style and your personal language. From each photograph that I take, I've always learned something and still today. I’m trying to stay in this experimental phase because it helps me to push myself further and improve my photography more and more.

What photographic project are you working on currently? Would you want to tell us a bit about it?

As I told before I'm an architect. So I can tell you that I'm working on a project that wants to show the delicate relationship between architecture and nature. I think that architecture should facilitate the experience of nature, while also appearing as an attraction in its own right. The architecture has the power to increase the human interaction with nature, so for this reason, I'm traveling mostly in Scandinavia in search of a specific situation where this balance that I'm talking about is really powerful.

What could we expect to see from you in the future?

Certainly many photographs of the arctic area because I’m madly in love with the north. For this winter, during Christmas time, I’m trying to organize a project that I had in mind for two years. We will see what happens!
