Can you introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

Hello there, we are Analog House from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We have been shooting film since 2010—the golden time for film photography in Vietnam. While people were enchanted by the progressive development of digital cameras and smartphones, we keep being charmed by the beauty of film. That was the idea for us to establish Analog House—to introduce and inspire young people to come to this natural and fascinating world of film photography.

What does analogue mean to you?

Firstly, it is all about the indescribable mixed feeling through the progress of creating a film photo—from loading film into the camera and shooting, to getting it developed and scanned, and seeing the results which make me feel like I am living in that moment again and again.

Secondly, it is about the uniqueness of each frame I take. The negative is the one and only copy.

Thirdly, analogue is not only a hobby. It's also a way for me to slow down in the fast-paced world to see and feel things more.

What does Lomography mean to you?

I've known about Lomography since the very first year of shooting film (I used to own a La Sardina camera). To me, Lomography is about thinking out-of-the-box. There is no technical boundary, no prejudice, no judgment. Just you play with your creativity under your point-of-view.

Why do you choose to work with Lomography?

Although Lomography was born after famous film brands like Kodak and Fujifilm, I think Lomography products are of good quality. Lomography has always tried to support the film community via new products, helpful articles, and inspiring interviews with photographers worldwide to encourage people to keep the love and spirit for analogue. And that’s why I choose to work with Lomography.

What is your favorite Lomography product and why?

Experimental films are my favorite Lomography products so far because of the different tones from other films. My next favorite is Lomography Color Negative 400 and 800 because they bring punchy vibrant colors in high quality and I highly recommend them to my customers.

Are you doing any creative projects right now in the store or personally? Please tell us more about them.

Not much creative work, just some random photos of my cat during the pandemic. :D

What does the future of analogue photography look like to you? How will this impact your store in the next ten years?

I think analogue still has a certain place in photography in the future. We hope to be able to keep analogue in our category in the next ten years.

What hardship did your shop/lab have to face during the lockdowns and what kept you going through these hard times?

Since the first lockdown in Vietnam, we had to close our physical store due to financial reasons and we decided to go into e-commerce. So the hardship here is that it is difficult for customers to see and experience the products for themselves, especially film cameras and instant cameras. We have solved this problem by offering customers free exchange and return in seven days, and customers seem very happy with the policy.
