Can you introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

I'm Min-Seon Choi and I've been working as the manager of the Lomography Embassy Store in Seoul since 2013.

What does analogue mean to you?

Analogue is never-ending. It takes time and process, but through that phase, it also becomes the feeling that I feel every time I see my photos for the first time.

What does Lomography mean to you?

For me, Lomography is breaking the rules and trying new things. The Golden Rule of Lomography is "Don't worry about any rules." It makes me realize things.

The participants who joined the Lomography workshop were very fun to photograph. That's why I teach people how to have fun taking pictures rather than teach them how to do it in a certain structured way. A good picture comes always by chance through new attempts. That's one way to produce one's own special moments with photography.

Why do you choose to work with Lomography?

Lomography's creativity and new attempts have had a good impact on me. I was especially interested in various experiences and events planning. Above all, I wanted to share with people what I experienced through Lomography.

What is your favorite Lomography product and why?

It has to be the Lomo LC-A+. Since I used this camera, I found myself using my other cameras less and less. Portability is its biggest advantage and the results are always wonderful.

Are you doing any creative projects right now in the store or personally? Please tell us more about them.

Recently, Korea's quarantine rules have been strengthened due to COVID-19. Therefore, the Embassy Store in Seoul has been relocated to Hongdae so we haven't been doing anything lately as a precaution.

As a whole, all economic activity (not just ours) has declined. This also prevented the Lomography Workshop from proceeding.

What does the future of analogue photography look like to you? How will this impact your store in the next ten years?

I think the recent craze for analogue photography, which has become popular worldwide, is unlikely to subside. It's become a whole new way of self-expression for a new generation of photographers. It's literally a means of recalling memories. Because of this medium, intergenerational interaction became natural. I wish that the Lomography Embassy Store Seoul helps pkay a role in connecting people.

What hardship did your shop/lab have to face during the lockdowns and what kept you going through these hard times?

Above all, due to COVID-19, we are unable to hold workshops that were actively held in the store in the past. While other media are replacing and expanding previous activities online, it's a pity that there are restrictions on interactive events that were used to be done face-to-face.
