Can you introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

Hi, we are Husband and Wife Shop from Thailand run by Marisa and Artyt who are crazy about taking film photos—mainly street photography. Four years ago, we built this shop on our land then started our business! We sell analogue cameras, films, developing chemicals, and equipment. We also offer film developing and scanning services. In the same building, we have a design shop that sells select arts and craft products from local Thai designers.

What does analogue mean to you?

Analogue for us is something that lasts long, never dies, and remains a classic.

What does Lomography mean to you?

Lomography is like a young person who is energetic and creative. Someone who keeps creating things that can make you smile big.

Why do you choose to work with Lomography?

As with the answer above, we like to work with a creative person or team to achieve our goals.

What is your favorite Lomography product and why?

We love all types of Lomography Simple Use Reloadable Film Cameras. They offer a good variety of effects and are easy to use!

Are you doing any creative projects right now in the shop or personally? Please tell us more about them.

This year we just have one project—a small gallery/ice cream shop in our space where can enjoy art pieces and photos while having yummy homemade ice cream. The first show is from Mr. Artyt himself—it features seven select images from his street photography work.

What does the future of analogue photography look like to you? How will this impact your store in the next ten years?

Oh, this is quite a hard question. We think analogue photography is here to stay since there will always be new generations who will be interested in this kind of art. The business may go uphill and downhill but the interest will remain.

What difficulties did your shop/lab have to face during the lockdowns and what kept you going through these hard times?

The worst setback we encountered was the very low demand during lockdown—no one could travel or feel relaxed enough to take photos. That greatly impacted our orders and service numbers. We held on and kept going, wishing and praying this will end soon so our customers will still have a shop to go to for different services.

Quick Questions

What's the most annoying thing about running an analogue lab?

One time a customer wanted to have the developed result in a couple of hours.

What's your favorite memory from the lab so far?

It's always a good memory when our customer gives us good feedback for our services.

What's the weirdest thing you have received when developing films?

Hmm... I can't think of anything weird enough to qualify for this question though.

What would you do if you didn’t run a photo lab?

Maybe paint!
