Hi Miquel! Can you make a brief introduction to our readers?

I'm a freelance filmmaker from Barcelona and I'm 35 years old.

Please tell us about your photography background. What’s your story? When did u start taking photos?

I started shooting when I was young with a digital compact camera, I used to bring it with me all the time: at school, when I was with friends or during family times...After that camera, I bought my first DSLR back in 2006. A couple of years ago my grandma gave me my grandpa's camera (a Canon AE-1) and I got very curious about film photography: that's when everything started.

In an undeniably digital age, why do choose to shoot film?

When I discovered film, it was almost gone: only a few people use to shoot on film, but I decided anyway to pursuit my choice because, although it sounds cheesy, film has something magic, something special. And I love it! Actually shooting on film looks like a fancy thing nowadays: a lot of brands, big companies, influencers are doing it, and that is good in every way, except for the price rise haha.

These photos were shot with our LomoChrome Metropolis and Berlin Kino films. The type of films influenced the location you decided to shoot?

To be honest, I decided to shoot both films in my regular life: I shot the Berlin Kino on a trip to the Pyrenees with my family. For the Metropolis, I decided to stroll and explore rural zones around my hometown because I thought the low saturation of colors could work perfectly with abandoned or deserted zones.

Some of your projects for Abstract Films are also shot on film: what are the challenges in shooting on films corporate assignments?

Most of the jobs I shoot on film are for fashion brands and it is not really a challenge, because if you have enough time, it will work. Otherwise, the most normal challenge would be the acceptance from the client of the costs of shooting on film. It's hard for a small business to accept the extra costs that come with analogue photography.

What photo equipment do you take with you on your travels?

It depends on the trip. For example, right now I'm in California, and I decided to bring with me 3 cameras: Yashica Mat 124, Yashica t3, and Leica M6. But, sometimes I only take 1 camera.

Do you have any interesting projects planned in the near future?

I am currently documenting the latest contest of my friend Maria Hidalgo Perlas. She is a snowboarder from Spain and she is preparing for the next Winter Olympics in 2022.
