Recap: LomoWalk Metropolis X Chicago

4

This past March, the Lomography team kicked off the first of the LomoWalk Metropolis series in Chicago! We teamed up with local film photographer Christopher Sturm, a.k.a. The Photo Dept. and Central Camera on a Saturday afternoon to host a gathering of enthusiastic photographers in the area to explore and capture the bustle of the city. All photos captured in none other than our LomoChrome Metropolis! Here's what came out of it.

"I have been in a creative slump recently, so I needed to be around fellow film lovers, and it was awesome to shoot with some artists who love alleys as much as me! I wanted to challenge myself and dust off my Lomo Lubitel to shoot the role of Metropolis film I had. I will say that I think this film craves sunlight, but it does pretty well in overcast weather too. I can't wait for the next Lomo event!"

"It was great to see other photographers come together over the passion for analogue photography. The collaborations and friendships are the best parts about shooting film today."

"I feel the Midwest is often overlooked by companies, so it was very exciting to have a photo walk hosted by Lomography. I was able to meet a bunch of awesome film photographers and hang out with Christopher of The Photo Dept! I also loved being a part of a photo walk that was focused on one specific type of film."

"The LomoWalk was a great experience with even greater people! It was cold and wet but I had a great time photographing the windy city with my new Lomo buddies!"

"The photo walk was great. I was inspired by the diverse group that showed up even though it was raining all day. Metropolis really shines in rainy, overcast, snowy, or otherwise less than sunny conditions, so seeing all the work that was shot that day really drives that point home. The characteristics of the film brought out the best of a rainy day."
