YouTuber and Photographer Kate Hook has been impressing us with her shimmering and playful portraits on film for a while now. The last time we spoke she had customised the La Sardina DIY camera and taken some beach themed photos with it too.
This time we decided to send her a roll of the LomoChrome Purple 2021 Pétillant. Check out her results below.
Hi Kate, could you share your experience using the LomoChrome Purple 2021 Pétillant film? How was it compared to shooting other regular Color Negative films?
The colors on the stock are definitely more vivid! I've shot with LomoChrome Purple since the first formula and noticed the vast improvement. This stock was a lot more bright. I've heard some other photographers say that Lomochrome Purple creates a "wash of purple" and this new stock proves otherwise.
Did you experiment with the extended ISO range of this film?
I prefer to shoot on ISO 200 with LomoChrome films.
Is there a specific picture that you like most from this test roll? Can you explain why?
I really like the ones of my friend Inés. I think you can see the contrast and vividness very well.
If you could sum up your LomoChrome Purple experience in three words, what would they be?
Vivid, high contrast, and bright
Any advice you’d like to share with future LomoChrome Purple users?
Definitely shoot on ISO 200, and play with colours like pink and yellow, as the colours reverse on the film!
