9tofive Studios' First Beginner's Workshop Featuring Lomography Cameras

9tofive Studios recently held "Introduction to Analogue Photography: A Beginner's Workshop" in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, featuring an array of Lomography cameras.

The Beginner's Film Workshop was the Black-owned studio's first workshop-style event catered to people with zero to some experience in analogue photography as well as those who shoot digital photography who want to expand their photography knowledge.

The three-hour long workshop was facilitated by Brooklyn-based photographers Jordan Mateos and LomoAmigo Chris Cook. Film was provided by pink folder film house.

The event was organized and facilitated by the studio's manager, Biviana Sanchez.

Admission for participants was $10 and the spots sold out four days before the event date.

On the day of the event, which was held November 20, the workshop had 16 attendees and 5 models who were all introduced to Lomography cameras such as the Diana F+, Diana Mini, Sprocket Rocket, Fisheye, and La Sardina.

When attendees arrived, they each received a raffle number that matched the cameras onsite and determined which one they were paired up with.

The workshop was broken up into two parts. It began with some history and instruction on how to use analogue cameras including loading film, lighting, and film stocks. Then the attendees were gathered into the studio space and building to start shooting with the help of natural light and the studio equipment!

Additionally, participants were surprised with the news that their photos could be featured in a mini exhibition at local Bed-Stuy cafe, Cafe Calaca, this upcoming January!
