the liquid island

In August I was visiting Hooge in the north of Germany. It's a Hallig, which is an island amde of sand. It's all surrounded by the Wattenmeer, an UNESCO world heritage site. During the tides the water flows entirely away and leaves a whole microcosm of birds, fish, worms, crustaceans and other small animals. The grounds is slimey and looks like liquid soil. quite an experience underneath your feet...
