Uglich. Church of Kazan Icon of Mother of God

Clearly visible to the west of the Kremlin, slender and high Kazan church was built in 1778. Temple in the city center, on the main shopping area, has existed since ancient times.
The new church, which is here today, was built in the late XVIII century in baroque style. The building of the temple - a two-story, all soaring like a candle.
The church was not a parish, as there was in the market square and its contained tradesmen and merchants, to sacrifice a lot of money to the temple. In 1921, it burnt down the whole trading area, and with it was badly damaged and Kazan Church - she burned the interior, the bell tower collapsed. It was restored, and the church was assigned to the neighboring parish of Assumption church (not preserved). In 1935, in connection with the construction of the Uglich hydroelectric power station, the church was closed and handed over the building to the jurisdiction of the builders. The beautiful church was used as a water tower, warehouse, dormitory ... In 2000, the temple was once again transferred to the faithful, began its restoration. In 2006, the bell tower has found the "voice" - a large bell 50 pounds of cast Tutaev N.Shuvalovym caster. Now the temple is not surrounded by retail shops and on the background of Soviet-built buildings, and broken park with a large playground around it.
