TranzAlpine (NZ #16)

It is considered as one of the greatest train rides in the world: the TranzAlpine. Going through valleys and mountains and all kinds of weather. The las waggon is without windows and whenever I could I went to the back to observe the landscape and people. But things happen so fast that you definitely have to ride it another time to know even better, when epicness is about to happen.

I did this in midwinter and sort of 'know ' the landscape. But I missed heaps of stuff as you sway & bonce along the narrow gauge track. Worst of all I missed the tiny pillbox station , Cass, made iconic in a painting by Doris Lusk. Must go back again with my daughter. A good excuse to return Herr Willie. Blink & you will miss something fantastic. That is the Tranzalpine

loved your comment @lomodesbro I imagine, how cool must it be for the ones commuting from east to west and return all the time. I will definitely come back :)
