Photos from an exhibition

Is it ever right to take a photograph of a painting? People make paintings from photographs, but painting is a higher art form, so that’s OK. A photograph of a painting is just a souvenir, unless you add something, like a person standing in front of it, or a reflection. But sometimes you just feel the urge to point your camera and push the button. I took these photos, in the City Art Gallery, Edinburgh in May 2021. I didn’t keep a note of the artists. Probably the most legitimate one is the image of my reflection and part of a label. The artist evidently died in an accident in his studio. Weird.
