Zenit 3M camera (of 1963) makes "selfie"

Zenit is mainstream line of Soviet SLRs. But how it started? It is really Zorki (which is clone of Leica II) with flipping mirror and pentaprism installed in place of rangefinder! This model "3rd, modified" got "cock lever", film loading through back door rather than bottom, self-timer and flash contact. Otherwise it inherits rounded body form, fabric shutters and shutter speed knob, even trigger button - from its predecessors (up to Leica). It doesn't "jump" the diaphragm so viewfinder is dark - and mirror isn't in position until cocked - quite outdated design. This particular camera (of 1963) I got for about $20 in vintage stuff store - though it had problems with back door closing, spoiling some shots before I understood and fixed it. #35mm #blackandwhite #camera #zenit #selfie
