Karpovka River at Petrogradskaya

"Petrograd Side" (or Petrogradskaya Storona) is the historical district which, unlike center, was settled mainly in XIX century. It still retains many "pre-revolt" buildings of queer design, fashion and form. Karpovka river sounds like place inhabited by "Carps" (fish) - but most probably it is due to unrelated Finnish etymology. #35mm #russia #saintpetersburg #blackandwhite #history
