Peter & Paul's Fortress - first building of St-Pete's

Just was testing new lens and had two frames on a film remaining. This was very last - so it was partially cut and dirty with glue of sticky tape, sorry :) Still it gives impression of where the city was started - Tzar Peter ordered this as initially small citadel on the "Hare Island" - one of islands in the river delta. It never seen combat, I guess (due to shallowness of the river), but served as prison at various times. Now it hosts many small expositions - related to history and unrelated - and is just a nice recreational space. Shot from Troitsky Bridge. #35mm #history #blackandwhite #saintpetersburg #architecture
