Petzval Art Lens: First Impressions
written by sandravo on 2014-01-22 #gearTo me, one of the Lomo-highlights of 2013 was the announcement of the Lomography X Zenit Petzval Art Lens. Being one of the first 100 backers to the Kickstarter campaign, I managed to score this lens for a very fair price. Another advantage of being an early bird is you catch the worm! So without further ado, let me share my first impressions of this beautiful lens with you.

DIY Binder for Negative Sleeves
written by sandravo on 2013-08-14 #gear #tutorialsEver since I started to develop my own film, I no longer get the negatives back from the lab, neatly organized in plastic sleeves and a nice protective envelop I can just keep in a shoe box. So I had to find a different way to store my developed film.

How to Make a Fully Functional 110 Film Developing Reel
written by sandravo on 2013-06-17 #gear #tutorials #videosJust last week I placed a bid on a lovely camera: a Pentax Auto 110. This small but very well built camera is the cutest and tiniest SLR I have ever seen. When I won the auction I started preparing for its arrival: buy some batteries, order some film, find a developing reel... And that's where I ran into trouble! As hard as I tried, I couldn't find a reel to develop 110 film, anywhere! So I had to pull up my sleeves and get dirty.

How to Take Close-Up Shots With Your Lubitel 166+ That are IN FOCUS!
written by sandravo on 2013-06-13 #gear #tutorialsAs great as the Lubitel 166+ is, there is one major disadvantage: the minimum focusing distance. While 80cm is close enough at most occasions, sometimes I would like to get closer. The easy solution to this is using close up filters, but most people who use use them end up guessing the correct focusing distance. From now on, you no longer have to guesstimate, but you can actually focus your image using your viewing lens! Read on and find out how.

Review: Lomography’s Lubitel 166+, Hands Down My Favorite Camera!
written by sandravo on 2013-06-13 #gearAt first I was afraid my urge to buy the Lubitel 166+ wasn't more than another breakout of GAS. Honestly, I was convinced that it would end up next to its older brother, a vintage Lubitel 2, sitting on the shelf looking pretty, but mostly just gathering dust. Turns out I couldn't have been more wrong!

Fomapan 100: A Great Black and White Medium Format Film
written by sandravo on 2013-05-28 #gearWhen it comes to black and white photography, I don't have tons of experience. I usually stick to the known and trusted Ilford brand. So when I saw Lomography Magazine was looking for reviews on the Fomapan 100 120 film, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try a new film. I ordered some rolls, tried them out in the wild, and came back here to share my impressions with you.

Camera Modification: Turn your LC-A+ into a Rainbow Camera!
written by sandravo on 2013-05-16 #gear #tutorialsPersonally I am a huge fan of redscaling. It allows you to get some color in your photos, even on the grayest of days. But what if you just want to add the redscale effect to just some of your photos rather than shooting an entire roll this way? Easy enough: use a red filter! And while you're at it, why not throw in some other colors as well?! Read on to find out how you can turn your LC-A+ in to a rainbow camera!

written by sandravo on 2013-04-24 #gear #tutorialsAPS film or Advanced Photo System is a discontinued film type that was fairly common at the end of the 90s. Up Close with your LC-A+
written by sandravo on 2013-03-01 #gear #tutorialsI love my LC-A+ but one of its flaws is you can’t get really close to your subject. Luckily there is an easy fix that involves an LC-A splitzer, the right close up filters, and two minutes of your time.
