Recap: NYC Film Photo Gathering 2023

Every year analogue-loving folk from all over the country gather in New York City for one special event – the NYC Film Photo Gathering!

The huge annual event, which welcomes any and all people from newbs to pros of all ages, is always the perfect opportunity to pull together the massive and widespread community for an afternoon to meet other film geeks, get hands-on during creative workshops, take amazing photos, enter raffles and enjoy food and drinks with everyone.

These reasons are exactly why every year we're ecstatic to partner up with our friends at Brooklyn Film Camera and NYC Film Lab to put together and host the event.

Without further ado, let's jump into what went down at the NYC Film Photo Gathering 2023!

Usually the gathering is held in Prospect Park, however, both our original date and rain date were hit by a tropical thunderstorm and all daytime activities got moved indoors to BFC's headquarters. Despite this, attendees still came through in participation of the event, showing us how amazing the community truly is.

This year's iteration of the event also included an open call for hosting workshops. Some of our amazing workshops included LomoGraflok Portraiture with Bob Greco as well as Scanning and Analyzing your Negatives with NYC Film Lab.

There were also a ton of raffles with major prizes— a Lomo'Instant Wide, a yearlong membership to the Penumbra Foundation, a camera from Milford Photo, gift cards for NYC Film Lab and Brooklyn Film Camera, and many, many more!

After the day's events we headed over to Beers and Cameras for the after party— a final huzzah to celebrate a successful and film-filmed gathering.
