Cat Byrnes: A Color '92 Series on the Streets of New York

Upon returning from her trip to the Sequoias of California, multi-media artist and photographer Cat Byrnes has been continuing her practice of shooting daily on the streets of New York and Pennsylvania. In this photo series, Cat documents a dewy morning walk on the Upper West Side, captured with the vibrant hues of the LomoChrome Color '92 35 mm.

In many ways, street photography (and photography in general) is a form of meditation. It slows down time and brings presence to the fast-paced world we live in, eternalizing what would otherwise be a quick, rushed moment on a city street.

Cat notices and captures these pleasant details of life that are likely missed by other New Yorkers passing by. She documents the tiny bird resting on a bench, the man hard at work through the glass of a window, and the tall stalks of wild Mullein growing in an abandoned garden.

The LomoChrome Color '92 has the power to brighten a dull, cloudy day in New York with some extra saturated colors. Especially when contrasted against grey and brown tones, it brings immense life into a seemingly mundane city street walk. Its rich grain gives off a cozy, familiar feel, as if you've walked on these streets and seen these same faces before.

In other words, this film is perfect for exploring the colors and warmth of everyday life – anytime, anywhere.
